Drum workshop with instrument building. Build, paint and play your Cajon
Create, experience and make music! Many exciting aspects come together in our Cajon building workshop. In this workshop, children, teenagers or adults build their own musical instrument (=cajon), paint it and learn to play it in a drumming workshop. The entire day is implemented by our friendly professional musician! The workshop is suitable for project days or as a day workshop for kindergartens, schools and communities. You can choose between Cajon kits made of wood or cardboard. So there is something for every budget.
Suggested procedure for a Cajon building event:
The workshop is divided into the following sections and is perfect for school and kindergarten:
To kick things off, it's full of energy! We start with a rousing warm-up and knock the kids off their feet before they are even built! Their own body becomes a musical instrument and the focus is on body percussion.
- Workshop - Handicrafts:
In phase 2 of the workshop, each child receives their own musical instrument in the form of a Cajon kit. Together, the children tinker and work to assemble their Cajon. In the process, they learn about building characteristics, train their fine motor skills and immerse themselves in the history and origins of the Cajon.
- Drum Event:
After the work is complete and the kids can proudly present their finished Cajon, it's on to phase 3! Time to inaugurate the Cajons! Together, the kids drum as a team and learn their first rhythms.
Now creativity is called for! The children can individualise their stool with acrylic and finger paints and become artistically active. In this way, each Cajon becomes unique and the drum day becomes an unforgettable experience.
- Ready for the stage:
Now that the cajons are visually stunning and the first rhythms are in tune, our budding drum stars are ready for the stage! What they have learned before is now combined into a song structure and the children give a small final concert together.
